Do you suffer from low back pain? (special announcement)

Last summer, I was fortunate enough to travel to San Diego for a convention.

San Diego is great, but hard on my lower back getting there (more about that later)…

I love San Diego, there’s just so much to do.

Of course, I got to play Torrey Pines and take in the views. The day I got to play was pretty foggy and cold, but still well worth the over-priced green fees. 🙁

SIDE NOTE: Lucky San Diego residents get to play Torrey for DIRT CHEAP. Tourist golfers get the ‘shaft’.

I’ll never forget one rule the head golf pro gave my playing group prior to teeing off…

“DO NOT DRIVE IN THE ROUGH. You can drive all over the fairway, but don’t drive the golf cart on our rough.”

…I thought he was crazy until I got on the course. I would miss a fairway by a few feet, and couldn’t find my ball…

Apparently, Torrey takes the care of its rough VERY seriously. I guess this is due to the PGA tournament that was coming up soon.

The one thing that sticks in my mind above everything else wasn’t the breathtaking views, the nude beach below (Blacks Beach), the parasailors, or losing balls one foot away from the edge of the fairway… it was my lower back.

I am 6’3″ tall, and I had just flown in. I was in a cramped seat and when I got off the plane, my low back was TIGHT and hurt.. the pain shot down my right hip. The day was long, only because of my low back and hip discomfort…

Luckily, I was in San Diego to attend a convention for personal trainers. The next day, I was sitting in a conference room at the Hard Rock Hotel in downtown San Diego and in obvious discomfort.

As I was squirming in my chair, my good friend Ian Hart noticed. During one of the scheduled breaks he came up to me and said, I’m going to take you to the gym after the meetings and I’m going to fix your back.

Of course, I agreed. Was I skeptical? Oh yeah!

So the day dragged on and my back got tighter and tighter.

Once Ian began the program, he explained to me a bit about his past. You see, he suffered from immense back troubles after injuring himself playing basketball. Ian and basketball are like peanut butter and jelly. The back injury he sustained stole basketball from him.

During the program, I broke a pretty good sweat. But during it all, I could tell something magical was happening.

Ian’s program at first stretched me out… then I could tell he had built in exercises to strengthen problem areas that cause low back pain.

At the end of the program, my pain was relieved. In fact, I had a bit of an endorphin rush going.

Ian said this is because I was activating neural pathways and using muscles I had not used in a long time.

To this day, I use this EXACT program once every two weeks to keep my low back going strong.

Ian also explained that after his injury, he was in so much pain he could barely move. Basketball activities for Ian were limited to watching it on TV and dreaming of one day being able to hoop it up…

Being removed from his favorite sport, Ian vowed to do something about it. Ian became highly educated in physical fitness, the back, and developed his masterpiece.

The masterpiece? An incredible back stretching and strengthening program.. the same one he used on me in San Diego. This program is like medicine.
