A good pre-shot routine can shave strokes off your game IMMEDIATELY.
That’s a bold statement… but it’s true.
In fact, last week I played 6 rounds of golf in 4 days… and if it were not for a pre-shot routine I’ve been working on, those would have been miserable scores. However, I was able to play well shot after shot. During one round, the pre-shot routine allowed me to correct course after a string of bad shots. Instead of falling apart, I went back to the basics that had been serving me well that day and started hitting well.
The more I practice my pre-shot routine, the more comfortable I feel when standing over the ball. Confidence exudes and a sense of well-being hangs over every shot. There is no rush to my shots… in fact, it’s pure business when I prepare.
In the past, I would stress and worry before hitting a shot and that showed up on my scorecard. My confidence was low, and my shots more often than not were crap. The routine allows you to play your shot with a calm mind and a relaxed body.
A good pre-shot routine separates golfers who score consistently well from golfers who are erratic and inconsistent. The pre-shot routine is the foundation of building consistency in your golf game. Without it you often lose focus when it counts to replicate the motions needed to hit the perfect shot.
